Zimmerman Elementary

Finnegan Meech (Kindergartener)

When asked to pick someone who is a leader, one rarely thinks of a kindergartener to fit that role, that is, unless they know Finnegan Meech. He is humble and kind, but confident and a natural leader, whether in the classroom or on the football field. Finn came into kindergarten with strong academic skills and he continues to be curious and eager to learn everything he possibly can.  Since academics come easily to him, he is able and willing to help his peers when they have questions and he is able to break things down and explain them, sometimes better than I can.  Finn excels in the classroom, but is also quite the athlete.  Finn is always organizing a game of football at recess and will be the quarterback who directs the plays of the game. He is sure to include everyone, regardless of their skill level.  He is creative and loves to build things during play time.  Finn is a great friend to all, a helper to many, and just an all around great kid.  Keep being you, Finn!

Levi Lemke (Kindergartener)

Levi is an amazing leader in our classroom. At a kindergarten level, it is sometimes hard to choose a student as a true leader but Levi stands out as one. He is extremely kind and patient, yet straightforward and honest with his peers. He is hard working and holds himself and his classmates to high standards of behavior and academic work. Levi is supportive to his peers, helpful to teachers and wise beyond his years. It is an absolute pleasure to teach him and I can’t wait to see what he does in the years to come. He is going to achieve great things!

Westwood Elementary

Jase Thonvold

Jase Thonvold is an exceptional student whose kindness, work ethic, and quiet leadership make a lasting impact on everyone around him. He consistently demonstrates respect, compassion, and a willingness to go above and beyond in everything he does. Whether he's helping a fellow classmate, assisting teachers, or fully engaging in lessons, Jase gives 100%—and he does so with a smile.

What sets Jase apart is not just his academic dedication, but the way he treats others. He is inclusive, thoughtful, and always ensures that no one is left out. When a new student joins the class, Jase is the first to welcome them with a warm smile and a friendly attitude, instantly making them feel at home. His natural ability to lead by example, quietly and humbly, is something truly special.

In Physical Education, Jase consistently brings a positive spirit and an eagerness to help—whether it’s supporting classmates or stepping up wherever needed. In fact, a statement he made in 4th grade left such an impression on staff that it’s still proudly posted in our work areas today. That’s the kind of lasting impact Jase makes.

In music, Jase continues to shine. He arrives each day ready to learn and frequently asks how he can contribute beyond what’s expected. His energy, attentiveness, and genuine enthusiasm for learning create a joyful and inspiring environment for all.

Jase is not only a great student—he’s a remarkable human being. His bright spirit, leadership, and unwavering kindness will no doubt touch many lives throughout his journey. It is an honor to be one of his teachers and witness the positive difference he makes every single day.

Brynn Burton

Brynn is an exceptional student whose quiet strength and thoughtful nature make a powerful impression on everyone around her. She is deeply creative, incredibly insightful, and consistently strives for excellence in all she does. Whether it’s through her beautifully written essays, striking artwork, or her thoughtful contributions in class, Brynn shines in ways that are both inspiring and admirable.

As a talented writer and artist, Brynn has a unique ability to express herself with clarity, depth, and emotion. Her recent achievements in our poster project contests and Yearbook Cover Finalist are examples of how her artistic vision connects meaningfully with the world around her.

Brynn’s intellectual curiosity is matched by her dedication. She takes initiative in her learning, often seeking out books and resources to deepen her understanding—even in subjects where she already excels. Her preparation for both the Book Bowl and Math Bowl reflects her commitment to growth and her strong sense of responsibility.

What makes Brynn truly remarkable, however, goes beyond her academic and creative talents. She is kind, respectful, and quietly leads by example. No matter who she is paired with, she is a reliable and supportive teammate. She brings out the best in others simply by being her thoughtful, humble self.

Brynn’s quiet leadership, artistic talent, and love for learning make her an extraordinary student and a valued member of our school community. Her future is as bright as her spirit, and it’s a joy to celebrate all she brings to the classroom and beyond.

Zimmerman Middle School

Piper and Levi Reppen (Grade 7th)

Both of the Reppens are kind, focused, thoughtful, and hard working. Levi and Piper have both represented ZMHS as Central MN Region Honor Bands, both participate in extracurricular activities like Jazz Band and they both do athletics as well. If there was a AAA award for middle school students I believe that Levi and Piper would both be in the running for that award. We love having them in class. They are positive, fun to have around, and most importantly, they care about their own success as well as the success of others. They truly are team players who want everyone to do their best!

Logan Schwinghamer (Grade 12)

Logan has created for himself a senior year filled with opportunity, growth, and goals achieved. I don't know that any student I have taught in my 10 years at ZMHS has been more involved in the community of our school than Logan. In addition to his numerous musical experiences which include playing 5 instruments in 6 different bands and singing in curricular and select choir, Logan has also participated in drama, speech, athletics, and was a state finalist for the AAA award last school year. Logan is a known entity across our school and spreads kindness, care and joy wherever he goes. He lives comfortably in his skin and walks with a quiet confidence in who he is. That sort of care, confidence, and understanding allows Logan to participate in all aspects of our school community positively and to build a culture of mutual respect throughout our school.

Teagan Early (Grade 10)

Section Champion Wrestler and Runner Up in State. 3 Sport Athlete and Honors student. (Taking honors English, Biomed and accelerated a year in Math.) Mrs. Onstad stated I appreciate Teagan's dedication to excellence to all classroom work--whether it is a final test, a presentation, or a short assignment. She always strives to put her best self forward. Mr. Hamlin states - A respectful student who always gives top effort and is a pleasure to work with, Teagan exemplifies everything ZHS stands for.  Mrs. Fossey stated - Tegan is a fantastic student in my PLTW: Principles of Biomedical Science class, handling a tough college-level course while keeping an A. She isn’t afraid to ask questions when she’s confused and always jumps in to contribute during group work. On top of that, she balances school and sports like a pro, never letting her busy schedule affect her schooling. Her positive attitude and energy make the classroom a better place, she absolutely deserves to be recognized by the school board for all of her hard work and dedication.
